When Hunter was a child, he was astonished to see his new foster siblings coming home with their belongings in a trash bag. So he did something about it. At 15 years old, Hunter began a program called “Day 1 Bags” that filled 100 duffel bags with essential items for foster kids. Hunter’s vision has since grown into a statewide program with national partnerships that has collected and distributed more than 24,000 bags to children across Texas. Hunter’s mom, Paula, helps manage the program.
