"How do you transform environmental problems into an economic opportunity?"
Zoubida Charrouf is a Professor of the Science Faculty at the Mohamed V. University of Morocco. With IDRC assistance she set out to protect the argan forest by improving processing methods. As a result she established the country’s first argan oil processing cooperative which now employs 450 women and offers them training in business skills and literacy. She was awarded La Trophee de la Solidarite for improving the lives of rural women. In this video Charrouf discusses the importance of the Argan tree to the development of the country and the improvement and advancement of women.
