Marc D’Silva currently serves as a senior development officer for Catholic Relief Services (CRS), based in their San Francisco office. He is the former CRS Country Representative for India. Based in Delhi for 4 years (2002 – 2006), Marc oversaw a program valued at $35 million/year that included CRS/India’s programs in the areas of education, agriculture, health, peace-building, HIV/AIDS, anti-trafficking, child labor eradication, and disaster management. During his time in India, Marc led the agency’s emergency responses to the Indian Ocean tsunami and the Kashmir earthquake. Prior to his work in India, Marc served as senior program manager for CRS’ country programs in Ethiopia (1999-2002) and Sierra Leone (1997-1999). Both countries were affected by conflict at the time and his work involved reconciliation and reconstruction. In 1999 he helped plan and deliver the first humanitarian food aid to 25,000 hungry, terrorized persons who had been trapped in rebel-controlled parts of Sierra Leone for more than 8 months.
