A new study in the July Journal of Trauma found that, over the 8 year study period (2001-2008) and after taking age into account, the rate of hospital admissions for older adult fall injuries in the US increased by 31%. The concurrent increase in the number of hospital admissions can be explained in part by the growing number of adults over age 65. The rising number and rate of injuries will result in increased demands on emergency rooms, hospitals and rehabilitation facilities.
