Immersiv project shown in Laval Virtual 2019
Offset is a project of immersive environment built on an open source game engine which is been hacked on its functionnality. Offset is a video game engine by retaining its actors and game principles by replacing all the visual elements with components of the notebooks and paintings of the painter Stéphane Trois Carrés. Instead of pretending to a false immersion by putting the paintings in video, the elements of the pictorial languages replace all the objects of mapping which constitute the universe of the game.
Thus the walls, the architectural details, the furniture, the vehicles are all inverted by drawn and painted structures taken from the painter’s world. The game retains its essential structure, remaining a game, the experience becomes a psychedelic journey in which the categories of objects and signs have slipped unfortunatly. Similar to psychedelic seminal experience I experienced as a young man.
