Most religious traditions teach us to use God. We seek him in order to accomplish some other goal. This results in a way of relating to God contrary to what Jesus teaches. Instead he presents to us a compelling vision of who God is so that we won't merely want to use him, but we will desire him. With this clear vision the Christian call to live with God begins to make sense.
