Join artist Bruno van den Elshout on this mission to carry water to the sea (en: carrying coals to Newcastle). This art work was conceived and executed in the spring of 2019, by Van den Elshout carrying a glass of water across 120 kilometers, pouring it from a tap at the Kröller-Müllermuseum in Otterlo at 9am on Monday - and taking it to The Hague's South Beach at 5pm on Friday to drink it.
Earlier projects by Van den Elshout include NEW HORIZONS (2012, newhorizonsahead.nl) for which he spent one year taking hourly photographs of the North Sea Horizons, and Us Europeans (2007, useuropeans.com) for which he spent one year travelling all 27 member states of the European Union to interview 2,700 young people about their daily lives. He is currently working on a new book, aggregating all 144 portraits that together make up his project about meaningful encounters (whatevertheweather.nl).
