Without sound doctrine there cannot be a sound church. As we'll see today, sound doctrine, according to 1 Timothy, refers to biblical teaching centered on the gospel that equips the church for sound living. Paul's first letter to Timothy is bookended by the significance of sound doctrine in the church. In our passage today (1 Timothy 1:1-7) we see that sound doctrine does three things: (1) It protects against false doctrine; (2) It promotes the gospel; (3) It results in sound living. Let's pray that MCC would be a church marked by sound doctrine, and that it would be heard in the preaching, singing and praying of God's people for the glory of God and our growth in Christlikeness!
