Kanban is a system for visualizing your work, enabling flow, and reducing waste. It is a simple technique that enables you to see benefits immediately. It encourages and promotes work in process limits, continuous flow, improved quality, teamwork, real time status reporting, and visualizes bottlenecks.
At this month’s event Steve Porter and a group of volunteers will teach us the principles and mechanics of kanban through the GetKanban game. As always, we’ll be having a discussion on how this can be applied to your organization.
Steve Porter is currently the product manager for Telerik’s agile project management tool, TeamPulse. As a Professional Scrum Master and Professional Scrum Trainer, Steve has traveled around the world speaking on the benefits of adopting strong ALM processes and implementing tools to support the entire development lifecycle.
In his role as an Agile coach, he has mentored teams from all over the world to help them make the successful transition to Agile application development. He has honed his pragmatic approach over many years of working on projects, both big and small, that have ranged from widely successful to catastrophic failures. He has studied directly under Ken Schwaber and David J Anderson, and his years in the trenches have given him the wisdom to focus on getting the best results from what you have, rather than blindly implementing the newest trend.
