‘Standard Issue’ is an exploration off what is possible with ‘off the shelf’ sheet materials that are made from recycled content. Using ‘Plaspanel’ made from recycled HDPE plastic and ‘Regupol’ floor sheeting made from recycled rubber, both materials are more typically seen in industrial applications. The starting point for this project was to discover what standard materials made from recycled content were available for designers to use in Australia. The options were surprisingly limited, with only a handful of materials available. ‘Standard Issue’ explores the use two more sustainable materials not often seen in a design context, with the hope that more manufactures will be encouraged to produce standard materials made from the vast amounts of waste created from industrial processes.
MATERIALS: Plaspanel' plastric sheet made from 100% recycled inustrial HDPE plastic, Regupol sheeting made from 80% recycled rubber from car tyres
