December 2011, Paris, France, sees the inauguration of the Prix Mobile art prize – a new, annual contest, open to all comers. To the winner, a unique trophy, and cash prizes for first, second and third place.
The competition has been judged by an international jury of practising artists, photographers, videographers, art curators, entrepreneurs, academics, internet and media luminaries, and prizes will be awarded in Paris during LeWeb.
The first Prix Mobile Art Exhibition will run December 7th, 8th and 9th 2011 at Le Web, Les Docks, Eiffel building / D1. Mobile art from the contest will be featured in a central Paris exhibition at DigitalArti, 13, rue des Écluses Saint-Martin, 75010, with an evening event Dec 8 from 18:30 to 21:30, and continuing Dec 9 12:00 to 18:00.
Judges look for excellence in the field of mobile image making, and credit is given for artistic expression, demonstrating a distinctive aesthetic sensibility, articulating emotions and feelings, and conveying meaningful ideas.
Entry is simple. Contestants submit image streams on qualifying social networks which have been created on and shared publicly from mobile devices.
However, Prix Mobile is a two-stage competition.
Our eminent international jury shortlists thirty people; each is then set a challenge. The shortlist contestants then have just ten days to respond to their challenge.
The winner is the person who in the judges’ considered opinion most celebrates and elevates the mobile image artform.
