Three partner organisations, a two year building program and 60 people over 55 years of age adds up to a new start for an active, inclusive and secure future.
Common Equity Housing Limited, which supports over 100 housing cooperative throughout Victoria, and partners Doutta Galla Aged Care and the Dandenong RSL are pioneering a new form of housing and social support for older people.
Cooperative housing is well suited to elderly people. They bring a wealth of experience from their working and community lives, they are time rich and can offer voluntary effort. Cooperative housing offers opportunities to be involved and required more responsibility from members. It also provides residents with considerable control.
