Susan Shapiro, author of several books, most recently, The Byline Bible, and professor at The New School, recalls a time she told her mentor, a best selling author, that she had writer’s block. The mentor told her that plumber’s don’t get plumber’s block. Don’t be self indulgent and get to work! The advice he gave her that stuck with her the most was: A page a day is a book a year. Shapiro says to look at writing the same way you look at work or checking email and anything else you “have” to do.
