Professional Yoga Therapy leads the way in medical yoga today by providing post-graduate application of medical therapeutic yoga through an evidence based lens. Our programs cover every system in the human body and treat the whole person by providing a standardized methodology for evaluation, prevention, and management of pathophysiology through education in evidence based CAM modalities, specifically medical therapeutic yoga. Module 7 completes the first half of the lecture series in the PYT program. Module 7 covers the 4 properties of biomechanics, including neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, and myofascial intervention. Study of biomechanical principles in the PYT model allows the clinician to design yoga programming to improve physiological and psycho-emotional balance and meditation and prevent burnout. Module 7 also discusses how closed and open packed joint positions affect teaching and program design of medical therapeutic yoga, both in preventive and pathophysiological settings. Balance is a fundamental skill, both of the mind and body, of which the PYT model targets as its therapeutic goal. Existing foundational skills as a licensed medical professional, including but not limited to behavioral organization and the sensori-motor connection, make the transition of integrating holistic rehabilitation and medical therapeutic yoga into your practice intuitive, immediately useable, and practical. Mind/body interaction and restoration of homeostasis, as well as neural mobilization, myofascial release, and biomechanical properties are developed as a skill set in the webinar lecture in module 7, while physical and patient care skills and practice will be completed in module 8, the companion on-site course to modules 1-7. Through the use of PYT principles in medical therapeutic yoga, health care professionals can create and oversee yoga and yoga therapy classes within their own facility, conducted and closely supervised by their own professionally trained staff. Module 7 builds on Modules 1-6, however the clinician has the option of taking the modules out of order.
