I worked in Japan as an EFL instructor from 2006 to mid-2007. Although I was officially employed by a company headquartered in Nagoya, I traveled to many rural areas in the Aichi and Gifu Prefectures, my trusty point-and-shoot in hand. Later, when looking for a new job, I got to travel to Kyoto, Furukawa, and Matsumoto. I also had many chances to travel around the Nagano, Shizuoka and Tokyo Prefectures before I finally returned to Canada.
I first began putting the project together in 2006. However, circumstance (and a lack of a unified vision) kept me from completing the project for five years, until 2011. This is the most obvious reason for the footage being produced by different cameras and edited together using a variety of software over the years. Although the end result may seem a little disorienting at first, I believe this short video finally conveys the meaning I had originally intended for it.
