We live in a time when many churches are minoring in the gospel and majoring in "other" things-things that can draw a crowd, but ultimately cannot satisfy mankind's deepest need-reconciliation to God. We simply cannot afford to get the gospel wrong. As a church we must be committed to guarding the gospel and making sure that it is at the forefront of all that we do-informing all that we do and shaping our church community. In order to be a sound church, we must hold firm to sound doctrine, doctrine that reverberates with the good news of Jesus Christ. And let us not forget that the gospel is for the glory of God as seen in vs. 11 of our passage today. It display His character-His love, mercy and justice-and when through its proclamation sinners are reconciled to God, He gets the glory! A church committed to sound doctrine, to the gospel, is ultimately committed to the glory of God! Let us pray for that to always be the case at MCC!
