Ray Hadley billed himself as the last Kickapoo hillbilly. He was steeped in the history of the Kickapoo Valley having been bread and butter there as the Irish say. There was something authentic, relaxing and comfortable about his stories. He would take you back to earlier times in a way that made you feel how it really was back then. He was down home country with a playfulness just under the surface just waiting for a chance to get out. You'd see it first as a twinkle in his eyes. We have suffered a loss with his passing. - Dave Collins, Midwest News.
