The Kingsbridge Armory, located in the Bronx, is an impressive object that residents christened as the neighborhood's "prize." While some see an arid fortress, many others view it as an economic engine to drive Kingsbridge into prosperity. Since the National Guard vacated the property, New York's Economic Development Corporation has operated it, renting the armory for movie shoots, music shows, and storage facilities. Two years ago, a deal by developer Related Companies to make it a shopping mall failed to materialize due to opposition from community groups and Mayor's office. The political bickering has kept it stagnant full of hope but devoid of progress.
