The Sahara Conservation Fund and Wildlife Conservation Network have partnered on a mission to save the North African Desert Ostrich from the brink of extinction. To save this rare Ostrich subspecies, conservationists built the largest off-grid solar field station in North Africa, complete with an incubation and hatchery lab. If they can hatch chicks in the remote Sahara Desert, there's hope that they can save these unique birds while making the town of Kélle, Niger a model of inspiration for future conservation projects.
