“In my current paintings I explore reduction, removal and repair. For an ongoing series I´m painting on glass, as a material that we are in touch with a lot, the last years, due to the increasing use of computers, smartphones and tablets. But the painting communicates silently, subtle, and the interaction takes place in the head of the viewer.” – Johannes Mundinger
With his paintings Johannes Mundinger often addresses specific places. He refers to the unique history or the environment of a place and uses the result of his research as the base for his mostly abstract paintings, to reach more than merely portraying. So his work is maybe even more about the research of a certain site, rather than its classification in a cartographic context. An important part of his work is the painting of big facades.
