In what is one of the most exciting announcements for Queens bus riders in forever, the MTA has started the public process for input to redesign the entire bus network.
Currently there is an on-going slate of open houses where residents are invited to give feedback, see presentations and talk directly with MTA staff and engineers who are overseeing the new plan, which is to be implemented sometime in 2020.
This is a huge and important undertaking. Queens has 77 local, limited and SBS bus routes with about 700,000 average weekday customers.
We at Streetfilms and TransitCenter will be following this process closely over. Last night was Jackson Heights' chance to interact with the MTA and hear what some bus riders had to say and suggestions they gave.
