This video was put together to highlight some of the shenanigans that go on on our India trips, so we could show people who are interested in going next year.
The content and tone has very little to do with what we are currently working on and will shoot in the summer of 2012, other than showing the kids of Good Shephard school in Uddamarry, around whom we will center the core of the film.
The children in this video are Dalit, a self-prescribed label of the lowest people of India's society—they are considered outside the caste system entirely. In 2003, a group of high school students in Norfolk, NE raised the funds to build the school in Uddamarry. Ever since, a group has gone over every year to interact with the kids and build lasting relationships with them and the staff of both the school and Operation Mobilization, who have built over 100 schools for Dalit in the past 10 years.
