HOPA (essentially an acronym) is an animation video produced for the Greek Neurological Society. The video is designed to raise awareness on how to effectively recognise stroke symptoms.
The word (H)OPA is commonly in use amongst Greeks but is also familiar to other nationalities partly due to the popular Sixties movie Zorba the Greek where during the film’s finale Anthony Quinn is heard to yell a celebratory Opa! during the dance sequence.
With this cheesy stereotype in mind we’ve created the exuberant character of a shepherd. We capture the moment where the he sweet-talks a sheep on the riverbank and encourages it to jump to the other side. How does the shepherd achieve this? He yells HOPA! After which the sheep, in a single, elegant movement jumps across the flowing river.
Having registered the meaning and connotation of the word ΧΟΠA/FAST, Χέρια/Hands, Ομιλία/Speech, Πρόσωπο/Face, Ασθενοφόρο/Ambulance the protagonist illustrates the above stroke symptoms.
The project offered us the opportunity to create a humorous, animated story which offers an informative and unique narrative.
