Topic: Getting America Moving: Everyone Needs a Little Push

Speaker: Toni Yancey, MD, MPH
Professor, Health Policy & Management
Co-Director, UCLA Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity
UCLA Jonathan and Karin Fielding School of Public Health

Board Member, Partnership for a Healthier America

When it comes to obesity and exercise, Dr. Toni Yancey is leading the national conversation. She is on the board of the Partnership for a Healthier America, which supports First Lady Michelle Obama's "Let's Move" campaign. Dr. Yancey has a plan to get us moving, ten minutes at a time. She believes exercise has to be made easy and accessible; that ten minute "Instant Recess" breaks can be incorporated into the school and work day. She has gotten people up and moving in classrooms, churches and even at the 2010 School of Public Health graduation!
