The American Institute of Architects'(AIA) Committee on Design (COD) led a trip to Japan this year. The trip had two parts each three days.
Part A was spent in Tokyo with a diverse array of programs focusing on contemporary architecture, traditional Japanese architecture, ongoing impact of the Tsunami, etc.
This slideshow is by no means comprehensive or an in depth survey of what was seen. It is simply my record of some significant sights we saw in a marathon tour of Tokyo.
The Japanese people were very gracious and generous hosts. Thoughtful, diligent and respectful were common refrains from the group about the Japanese people.
At 13,000,000 people it was a remarkably quiet , clean and orderly city.
