This is the NYO as you've never heard us before. At our concerts on 5 January (Liverpool Phil) and 6 January (Barbican, London), we'll be giving the first two performances of Anna Meredith's specially written new piece HandsFree, choreographed by David Ogle. It's one of twenty 12-minute pieces which, as part of the UK-wide New Music 20x12 programme have been commissioned to feature centrestage in the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Featuring beatboxing, clapping and body percussion the work showcases the orchestra in a completely new way.
This video shows some of the orchestra working with Anna and getting to grips with the piece in the very first rehearsal.
