Werd Scho Wida, November 03, 2011 - December 23, 2011, Chambers@916
Blakely Thomas Dadson
"Werd scho wida," which translates as, "Things will get better again,” is a Franconian colloquialism that expresses the underlying spirit of Dadson’s new body of work. Influenced by Albrecht Dürer's Apocalypse with Pictures woodcuts, Dadson confronts the cyclical themes of death and resurrection, destruction and hope. These mixed media vignettes depict a phantasmagorical landscape where history and tragedy are re-mixed with slick, pop-culture imagery, blurring the lines between what is real and what is fantasy.
