Today I went on a 3 hour Utrecht tour with Frans Jan van Rossem who is in charge of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Programs.
He said he had something "fun" to show me if I was game. And I was very glad he did. At a specific intersection they have installed a display that flashes you one of three animals (rabbit, tortoise or cow) in order to give you a heads up as to how to adjust your speed as you approach an intersection so you can hit a green light, or at least be ready for disappointment.
Frans will tell you in less than a minute.
I quickly assembled this since I fully expect my long-form Streetfilms on Utrecht to be at least ten minutes. The truth is it could approach 15 and there will certainly be some great, entertaining bits hitting the cutting room floor. So better to start offering up some shorties now! Enjoy!
