This is documentation of a video installation at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, WA in 2007.
The piece consisted of video projecting on 3,200 pounds of sand in the corner of the gallery.
Statement of Work:
In Exercise #1, I am interested in how the combination of moving image and stationary surface might translate as a psychological parallel for familiar repetitive daily routines, or recall futile interactions of the viewer who experiences it. As the projected hands attempt to stack, smooth and manipulate the real sand, a tension and sense of futility occurs. No change is ever made to the pile of sand. The two mediums appear to interact, but can never fully connect.
