To get a good feeling don't concentrate on the approaching grip of Uke but imagine a little fly in front of Uke and catch it with a snapping movement out of the wrist of your hand. Then move the loosely closed fist to your ear and listen to the bzzz of the fly you caught. Whirl around and release the fly towards Uke. To catch and carry a fly you don't need so much muscle strength. It is much more about timing and to make soft movements to not hurt the little fly!
