Down From His Glory
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
How thrilling it has been for me to get a sneak peak of our choir preparing for the upcoming Christmas Musical, Down from His Glory. I have listened to their glorious singing, and my spirit has been stirred once again to preach the great theme of our Lord’s descent to earth to save His people from their sin. Throughout the month of December, I am preaching a sermon series also entitled, Down from His Glory. Last Sunday, I began the series with the first sermon, The Incredible Incarnation of the Immutable I Am. Today, I will bring the second sermon, The Prophetic Promise of the People’s Prince.
In today’s sermon we will look at Micah’s prophecy concerning our Lord’s birth. Together we will discover A Messianic Prophecy, A Maternal Prophecy and A Millennial Prophecy. The birth of Christ was revealed by Micah 700 years before it happened and the prophecy also includes things yet to come. I believe the message that Micah brought to Israel is still speaking to us today. It tells of the great things God has done, is doing and is yet to do.
I love the Christmas season with all its joy and celebration. I love to commemorate God’s perfect Gift to mankind. No other gift keeps giving like this Gift. Jesus is the reason we sing the great carols of Christmas, rejoice in the Biblical recordings of His birth and herald the theme, Down from His Glory!
