Praise God for the good news of 1 Timothy 2:5-6. In these verses we see that there is one God (vs. 5a)! From Scripture we learn that this One God is the Creator of all things, and therefore worthy of all praise. The bad news is that we are by nature at odds with this One God. We are born outside the Garden and are thus rebels deserving of divine punishment. The good news is that there is One mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus (vs. 5b). Through trusting in Jesus Christ we can be brought back into fellowship with God-forgiven and made new! How is this possible? Through the One act of redemption (vs. 6). Jesus paid with His life at the Cross, suffering the wrath of God that we deserved for our sins. Jesus took our punishment for sin so that we could have peace with God (see Isaiah 53:5). Furthermore, Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God the Father where His ministry of mediation continues. Those who trust in Him today are declared right before God! That is what it means to be in Christ. If you trust in Him (and are now represented by Him), what He did through his Cross is now applied to you. Praise God for this most excellent news: One God, One Mediator, One Act of redemption! Pray for opportunities to proclaim it to others this week.
