The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and USAID's Center for Innovation and Impact hosted the second major DesignforHealth convening in Dakar, Senegal from 10-12 April 2019. This partnership seeks to advance the more intentional and appropriate use of design in global health, while democratizing design so that it is more accessible to global health practitioners at large.
DesignforHealth - conceived as HCDUncut - is looking to the future. The question we now ask ourselves is: as global health evolves over the next 25 years, how can design be best positioned to be integrated within the field while accelerating human-centered innovation to improve the health of populations? In April, we came together in Dakar - a city that inspires through design, rich culture, and historical context- for Nio Far Dakar. As the Senegalese say, Nio Far! We are on, we are together!
The event was held at the Le Musée des Civilisations Noires (Museum of Black Civilisations) and convened experts across global health, design, and other complementary areas of expertise. To follow updates through social media, search #DesignforHealth and #NioFarDakar.
