Audrey Jacobs, an 8th grader at Arbor School of Arts and Science in Tualatin, Oregon, made her very first documentary about training miniature horses for her year-long Senior Project. Beginning in the fall 2009, she set out to find a professional mentor (me!) to help her learn how to make a documentary film. Over the next nine months, we spent countless Sundays filming at the horse ranch, and planning, writing, and editing at her family's kitchen table. It was one of the most memorable experiences of my professional career, and Audrey and her family still hold a special place in my heart.
