When deputies respond to a 9-1-1 call, the emergency situation can be upsetting or frightening to a child. To help calm kids during tense situations such as accidents, house fires or domestic disputes, deputies rely on a squishy friend - a hand sewn teddy bear. It gives the child something to hug when they need it the most.
We partnered with Bears for Badges in Ramona to provide the hand-sewn teddy bears in our patrol cars. A retired deputy came up with the idea and now community members in Ramona have embraced the cuddly mission. To learn more on how you can volunteer send an email to bearsforbadges@yahoo.com.
