Burning the Clocks started in 1995. The Brighton based annual winter solstice event combines bands, lanterns and stilt walkers in a parade which ends on the seafront.
People invest their hopes for the coming year into the lanterns which are then burnt on the beach, after which a firework display marks the end of the occasion.
Over 20,000 people attended the spectacle this year which was a great success.
