During the summer of 2010, I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Jordan on a mission trip for two weeks. With the destructiveness and danger of the civil and political unrest in Iraq, thousands of refugees travel across the world seeking safety. According to a 2009 statistic, there may be as many as 2 million Iraqi refugees who have fled to Jordan, Syria, and other neighboring states including those who fled prior to the war. UNHCR estimates about a 1/2 million refugees in Jordan. All of these people are in desperate need of food and shelter. In our group of ten people from my church, Grace Baptist, we teamed up with local Jordanians to lend a helping hand to these people.
