Rigging a character face I box modeled in C4D this month. (HyperNURBS for smoothing, sharp features are maintained only by edge loops; no weighting.)
Only using joints(bones) for rigging this one, no morphs.
Currently I only have 15 joints for articulation. 2 for each eye (upper and lower lids) , 2 for each eyebrow, 1 for jaw, 4 for lips (top, bottom, sides), 1 for base of skull, and 1 for throat area.
I'll still have to add several joints to get all the facial motions I need. 1 more for each eyebrow, 4 more for the mouth for more flexible shapes, then at least 3 joints per cheek area (right below the eye sockets, on the cheekbones, and on the nasolabial folds.)
I'll try to see what I'll need to do to get more advanced expressions like puffing cheeks and pouting lips...
