Life is our greatest teacher... if we are open to its lessons. "If you are irritated by every rub, how will you ever be polished?"—Rumi.
When Diane wanted to begin a whole new art project in their basement, Fran balked, "We don't have time, money or space for a rock workshop—all the machinery, noise, and mess!" Plus, she secretly judged it: What's the point of polishing rocks?!
But, remembering the guidance from her teacher, that loving another person means to "nurture their potential," Fran let go of her resistance and encouraged Diane's new direction. They cleaned out the basement and welcomed the grinding sounds of saws, tumblers, and sanders.
In this video, Fran shares the profound discovery that Diane's artistic endeavor opened up for her.
Our lovemates often carry our 'shadow' side. How do we handle the grit of those differences? Instead of wanting our beloveds to match our own ways and interests, we will expand our consciousness if we have the willingness to learn from their passions and ways of living.
Special thanks to the children: Madelynn, Kairos, and Daniella.
