Just a short little video I quickly put together on Boxing Day 2011 because I had a chance to borrow my uncle's Canon 24-105mm F4 L IS lens which I have been thinking of investing in.
I was worried about f4 being the widest aperture available and wanted to test the IS function during video. So when I went on a walk with my family I the dark I thought I would attempt to shoot a quick and dirty video of our walk.
I honestly wasn't expecting to get anything useable from it, but the results went actually that bad. I found the IS made handheld very useable and relatively shake-free (even at 105mm which most of the video was shot at) and the f4 was plenty low enough to get some decent shallow DoF.
No I wouldn't choose this lens to shoot this type of scenario but it showed me it can get ok results. This was pretty much the most challenging situation I could think of to put the lens through at such short notice, and in my opinion it pulled it off.
Might well be investing in this lens very soon...
All shot at either ISO 6400/3200 (mainly 6400) on a Canon 60D with the Canon 24-105mm F4 L.
The only stabiliser was the built-in IS in the lens, so no LCDVF or anything like that.
