40 Wall Street is the address of the famous Trump Building in New York City's financial district. It is also the former home of the Bank of Manhattan and was the world's tallest building when built early in the twentieth century. The first floor featured the banking center of the Bank of Manhattan, with classic Corinthian columns, marble arches, and marble floors. It sat empty for years, until New York's Duane Reade Pharmacies elected to transform this space into a modern, futuristic centerpiece for it's vision of a "pharmacy and drugstore of the future." From March 2011 through July 2011 we documented the demolition, construction and build out of this magnificent space through multiple camera timelapse photography. Rather than simply using fixed cameras, we opted to use three fixed time elapse cameras, three mobile time elapse rigs (to capture various activities throughout the large space, and HD video cameras as well. The result is more than the sum of those parts-- part documentary, part celebration, part memorial to the planning, design, and execution of what has turned out to be a landmark in retailing.
