The Cheetah, developed and directed by Jonathan Whittaker and Julia Niego was based on a two-year Reggio-inspired art project at the Red Hook Playgroup. During the first year, children collected, sorted and built with recycled materials, and with the help of local artists constructed a life-size cheetah. During the second year, children returned to reflect on their art and through sculpture, drawing and story-telling wove a tale about what would happen if this cheetah came alive. The short film is a combination of stop-motion photography, video of children's art and audio of their stories.
