Iris Poljan, Rahman Hak-Hagir - X Marks the Spot (2019)
'An integrative public live performance in Holland.'
Adapted to the locations at the Dutch seaside village Schoorl between 14th and 16th of June 2019. Based on Joseph Campbell´s 17 stages of the Monolith.
X represents things we all aspire: Our goals and ambitions.
X varies from person to person.
Everyone who wishes to try their aspiration seeking will be given written instructions, questions and hints that will lead them to X. According to their preferences.
The questions imposed are:
Will you find what you are looking for?
Will you follow your aspiration to the end?
And most importantly what does X represent to you?
Since 1997, the art manifestation 'SchoK' is organised by a group of art professionals in the Dutch seaside village Schoorl. The name SchoK comes from 'Schoorlse Kunsten' which in English means 'Arts in Schoorl'. In 2006, after 10 years, SchoK has become a biennial, taking place in 2019 on June 13 until 16.
The set up is a manifestation with art projects of contemporary professional artists, Dutch as well as from abroad, with an emphasis on new artforms, experimentation and collaborative projects. The artists can present themselves in a way that transcends exhibiting or performing in a conventional way, and find in SchoK a platform for development and try-out. SchoK stimulates plans that make use of the local environment and add something to it.
