Stella Labs (formerly known as Hera Labs), is a business accelerator for women entrepreneurs by women entrepreneurial educators, advocates & leaders. Stella Labs’ mission is to inspire, equip, & propel female founders to successfully launch, grow & sustain their businesses efficiently & effectively, thus positively impacting their local, national and global economy.
Stella Labs believes that access to mentors, education, community & capital will ignite female-led innovation. Stella Labs solves for the entire innovation value chain for female entrepreneurs, from access to education, access to resources and access to capital. Through a partnership with Stella Angels, Stella Labs also advocates and supports access to education, connections and deal flow for aspiring and existing female angel investors.
Hera Labs became a not for profit on January 4, 2016. Hera Labs was rebranded to Stella Labs in June 2019. Our board of directors is composed of business leaders, San Diego startup advocates & diversity champions: Navrina Singh (Strategy Advisor) Former Head of Qualcomm's Global Innovation Program, Technology & Product Development & founder QWISE and currently Principal/Director Product Manager in Microsoft AI; Andrea Giralt (Operations Advisor) global operations executive formerly at HP and currently VP of Operations at AerNos; Laurie Itkin (Treasurer) Financial Advisor, Author, & Speaker; and Briana Weisinger (Secretary), startup advocates at the UCSD Office of Innovation and Commercialization. Briana Weisinger is now acting Executive Director of Stella Labs as she steps into more of a leadership role.

Stella Labs implementation in 2019 entails building in a more structured educational offering around SBIR/STTR programming within the 2 intensive programs (Launch and Scale Intensives) in 3 locations, strengthening partnership with organizations already conducting SBIR/STTR training, and strengthening and enriching the access to capital offerings of Stella Labs to build a stronger innovation ecosystem.
Stella Labs is hopeful in secured $50,000 from the SBA and is actively developing other financial supporters in the local business & financial community.
