This poetry film is from one chapter in Tree my geopoetic and mythopoetic family history project. It comprises over 25 years of research, field notes, poetry and poetry film and will be presented in different eras as separate chapters in non-chronological order.
Tree originated as a creative means to understanding where I ‘come from’, and create a sense of belonging.
Paper River includes researched facts, notes and a five-minute poetry film centred on my great grandfather's paper mill, and events that occurred during the First World War.
This project is an audio-visual narrative, essentially about first-hand collection of material and personal response to place.
Premiered at the Scottish Centre for Geopoetics conference, 2019
