In the summer of 2011, I shot this video for the festival Op Roakeldais. Op Roakeldais is a folkloric dance festival that takes place once a year in Groningen. Each year hundreds of dancers and musicians travel to the town of Warffum to put on amazing dance performances. Even though this festival has been around since 1966 and has an audience of around 25.000, most people never heard of this festival. To make the festival more appealing to a younger public, a lot has changed over the years. There is a parade, several dance workshops, a cultural square, a matinee and off course the dance performances. But there is also a ball where you can join the dancers in one big party. This video shows how unique and fun this festival is.
