“Living shoreline” is a broad term used to describe a range of nature-based approaches to stabilize a shoreline. Living shorelines can be used instead of seawalls or bulkheads to reduce erosion, protect property, provide fish habitat, and improve water quality. This video is part of a series of living shoreline resources to help stakeholders across the Gulf find information on design and construction, cost, and permitting. This project was led by the Green Infrastructure Work Group of the Climate and Resilience Community of Practice and is part of a larger project funded by a capacity building grant from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, Gulf Research Program.
