Since 2004, bicyclists have converged on a dusty, dirt road for a scenic mountain bike ride through the Belt Mountains in the Helena National Forest. With grand, sweeping landscapes and a 3,000 foot elevation gain, you can bet this is a ride you'll want to be a part of.
The York 38 Special is 38 miles along spectacular scenery including mountains, a canyon, and three creeks. Varied terrain on gravel, asphalt road, and single track. Challenge yourself or take it easy and enjoy the views.
The Spirit of 76 Cyclocross is twice the distance, twice the scenery, and twice the fun!
There's also a 6-mile family ride up along Trout Creek and back; so there's truly something for everyone!
200 square-miles of the forest are protected by the York Fire Rescue - an all volunteer team dedicated to the preservation of this beautiful land. The York 38 Special is an annual fundraiser held in support of the York Fire Rescue.
