January is not exactly 'fresh local food season' up where I live. So I took some friends up on an offer to get out ice fishing, something I've made fun of for years. I loved it.
I grew up ice fishing sitting on buckets getting pummelled by the elements. In the comfort of a black shack, you can clearly see into the water, making ice fishing infinitely more interesting.
End result: applewood smoked northern pike
