Bubble Barrier to Protect Water Intakes Against Jellyfish Swarms

Bubble Barrier to Protect Water Intakes Against Jellyfish Swarms

Canadianpond.ca Products Ltd.

Using a Bubble Tubing® bubble barrier to prevent water intake pipes from being overtaken by swarms of jellyfish has been successfully demonstrated by Canadianpond.ca since 2007. Desalination plants, nuclear industries and power-generating plants all have intake pipes for cooling their systems. Although these power plants have various degrees of filtration to prevent jellyfish (trash or other wildlife) from being sucked into them, if the water current is too strong, jellyfish cannot swim against the current of the intake, despite their ability to warn each other of danger which is demonstrated here also. Bubble Tubing® bubble curtains not only protect the water intake, they also protect the jellyfish. This principle is demonstrated here in this animation.
